CCS School Board member, Kimber Fender, will be representing Campbell County School District at the Blue Ribbon Commission on Tax Reform meeting to be hosted on July 24th at Northern Kentucky University.
The 23-member commission includes a cross-section of business and civic leaders from across Kentucky who are studying Kentucky's tax code. Their recommendations are due to Governor Beshear by Nov. 15, 2012. The stated purpose of the Commission is "to develop a set of recommendations to make Kentucky’s tax code more responsive to the ups and downs of the economy, as well as to make taxes more equitable for Kentuckians." The Commission is charged with providing recommendations for a fair, competitive, simple, compliant, elastic and adequate tax structure to support the most critical public needs of the Commonwealth.
Ms. Fender will speak on the need to generate a tax reform that is attractive to businesses, is fair, consistent, equitable, sustainable, and that fully funds state mandates including textbooks, transportation and pay raises.
