Meet Mrs. Mann

Contact Info:

My name is Shannon Mann, and I am a first grade teacher at Crossroads Elementary. This is my 21st year in education. After teaching for ten years in Newport, in first, second, and fourth grades, I joined the Campbell County school district.

I have always had a passion for reading and writing, and am dedicated to helping my students develop that passion as well. I received my teaching degree from the University of Kentucky and am a true blue fan through and through! I also received a Masters Degree in Reading and Writing, as well as a Masters in Instructional Leadership and Administration at Northern Kentucky University.

This year I will have a seventh grader at Campbell County Middle School, and a Senior at Community Christian Academy. I pinch daily because I cannot believe that I have a baby ready to go to college in just one short year. I am happy to report that she is following in Mom's footsteps and choosing to be a Wildcat!!!

As you can see I love all things Disney. This is why every communicaton or assignment that I send out is often adorned with Mickey or at least has a hidden set of ears!! Allthough we are starting the year from a distance, my DIsney themed classroom is always open. If you would like to set up an appointment to meet in person and tour our physical classroom, feel free to email me so that we can set that up safely amid the ever-changing limitations of COVID.

Man oh man have we missed you!!!

I know that this is NOT the way we wanted to welcome our kiddo's back to school, but as your child's teacher I am still committed to making this the best year ever. Under the circumstances, things will obviously look very different!

In order to make the very most of remote learning, you and your child will need to be logging into our Google Classroom daily. I will be teaching live lessons there every day. I will also post all classroom assignments and messages there as well. You will become quite familiar with Google Classroom, as it is also where you will post all of your completed assignments, and check the status of your chld's progress. Fortunately, our school has provided all of our students whith Chromebooks to help you with this task.

Here is a link to our Google Classroom. https://classroom.google.com/u/0/c/MTI0MzQxNzk4Nzda

In order to get into the classroom you will need to be invited. I will be doing that using a unique "join code." Before the first day of school I will be doing a video to show you exactly how to join and login to our Google Classroom. I am confident that you will find the process easy and less intimidating as the year progresses.

Please do not let yourself become overwhemed with all of these changes. We are in this together. I will walk you through things every step of the way. You will find that I am always available and willing to help you in anyway that I can. Expect me to check in on your child (AND YOU) one-on-one at least once a week, usually more. Developing a positive relationship with my students' families has always been a top priority of mine. I operate by a very simple teaching philosphy, "Love First, Teach Second." It is my goal that your child will leave his or her classroom (or in our case logoff) everyday knowing that his or her teacher loves them. When that happens, learning follows naturally.

To really become a part of our close-knit Mouseketeer family, please join our Facebook Group at:

Our Facebook group page is where the real fun happens! I often go live during school events, surprise story times, post pics of the students and their work, and so much more. This group is CLOSED and PRIVATE! This means taht you cannot even search for the group. It is hidden from the public. Therefore, in order to be admitted to the group you will have to be a legal parent or guardian. You can request to join the group, and I will approve after checking your students' school records. Please do join us though, I have found that the Facebook group is the best way to create a sense of community within our classroom, especially during these "socially distant" times.

PS: Meet our class pet! He is a leopard Gecko named Randall. You will also see more of him on our Facebook group page. He likes to make regular appearances there.
