Hello! My name is Casey Gesenhues. I teach second grade at Crossroads Elementary School. I have worked at Crossraods since it opened in August of 2007. My first year I was a Title I teacher and worked with students from kindergarten to fifth grade. My second year I moved into a second grade classroom where I have made myself at home for the last four years.
You can see in this picture we were all anxious to get started and worked even when the construction workers were stil working!
This was our first day at the new school in 2007. We have a ceremony and had a ribbon cutting ceremony before everyone came into the new building. My favorite subject in school is writing. My students know that it is my "favorite time of the day." I feel like it is the one subject that allows you the most freedom and opportunity to share stories about your life. It opens many doors and continues to be important to me even now!
I am from Lexington, Kentucky (Go Big Blue!) and went to college in Murray, Kentucky (Home of the Racers). When I graduated from college I moved to Campbell County with my husband John. Last year we adopted a dog named Scout and we are enjoying settling into our first home.
Last May I graduated from Northern Kentucky University with my Masters in Education. I am currently working on my second Masters degree in Instructional Leadership. I have learned so much from my classes and enjoy using the things I learn in my classroom.
