Going Strong Newsletter
Our community. Our schools. Our commitment.

Time flies

It is hard to believe we are already back in school. We’re off to a great start thanks to a devoted staff  and a lot of hard work. As many of you know already, our theme this school year is “Whatever It Takes,” and we are going to do just that to ensure that our students have every opportunity to learn and grow this school year. The slogan is proudly displayed in each of our schools on banners and is a constant reminder of what we must do in order to continue to move forward. With continued hard work and dedication, this will be our best year yet.

Do you know a Fred?

We have placed a renewed emphasis on excellent customer service in our buildings. Every member of our staff is here to serve the community in some way and we encourage everyone in our district to put those little personal touches on their work by going above and beyond instead of just getting by. We call those who provide excellent service “Freds” inspired by the book, “The Fred Factor” by Mark Sanborn. Any CCS employee can be a “Fred” just by providing a little extra effort. If you spot an employee being a “Fred”, we’d like to know. A nomination form is on the Web site. “Freds” will be recognized by the district and some will be given the opportunity to compete at the state level.

What a difference

a year makes

It was just over a year between our groundbreaking of the new school until our staff was moving in.  I am proud of how our team pulled together to get the building ready for the first day of class. We held a ribbon cutting with staff and students before classes began. A grand opening celebration is being planned for sometime in September and will be open to the public.

Have you received your school calendar?

Each child should have received a school district calendar. The calendars include all district events including Board of Education meetings as well as school-level PTA and Site Based Decision Making Council meetings.  Each school is celebrated with photos and information about the school and its principal. If you have not received a calendar, please contact your  school.

Calendar

The beginning of the year is filled with school activities for families and students. Be sure to check the online calendar as well as the sports schedules for events you may want to attend.  If you know of other events that should be added to the calendar, please contact us.

Decision Makers

The next meeting of the Board of Education is Sept. 10  at Campbell Ridge Elementary at 7 p.m. A complete listing of the meetings is available at www.campbellcountyschools.org/main/district/boemtgschedule.php.
