Reiley 1st grader

reflects on success

Marcy Livers, a first-grader at Reiley Elementary, placed second in the visual arts category of the state PTA Reflections Program. This year's theme was "I Can Make a Difference By..."  Marcy chose to fill in the blank with "planting flowers". She depicts a dark flower on a dark background with a hint of yellow peeking around the flower. State finalists are being honored at a recognition dinner in April.

Get on track

On your mark, get set, go!  Campbell County Youth Track, for CCS students grades preschool through grade 5, will begin on Monday, April 7, 2008.  Registration will take place at CCMS from 5:30-6 p.m. followed by the running events.

Anything Goes at CCHS

CCHS will present Anything Goes on April 11-13 in the CCHS Auditorium. Shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $8 each and can be ordered by calling 635-4161 ext. 1146. This promised to be an excellent show. Get your tickets today.

Academic success for Cardinals

Congratulations to the Grant's Lick Academic Team which took home 4th place honors from the Governor's Cup Regional Competition last week. Hanna Owen placed 3rd in the individual testing in composition while Kendall Ruber placed 4th in arts and humanities. The school's Future Problem Solving Team, made up of Kourtnie Ruber, Jennifer Campbell, Holly Schwarber and Kyle Houston, tied for 1st place! Great job Cardinals!

ABC's for Parents

Each Tuesday March 25 - April 22, parents can learn to establish disclipline through family rules, rewards and alternatives to spanking and yelling. Children learn caparable skills at an age-appropriate level through puppets, role play, music and art activities. Classes are held at Crossroads Elementary 6-8:15 p.m. Registration is required. Speaking of success

The CCHS Speech Team traveled to two state level competitions over the past two weeks. At the Kentucky Educational Speech and Drama Association senior forum state tournament, the team placed 4th in the small school division.  Ashley Stamper was a quarterfinalist (top 24) in prose interpretation, and Merideth Scott was named top novice in persuasive speaking. At the Kentucky High School Speech League state tournament held at Western Kentucky University, the team had two events in semifinals (top 18):  Ashley Stamper in prose interpretation, and the team of Megan Gregory and Chelsey Murray in improvisational duo. The team competes this weekend at Centre College for the National Forensic League district tournament in hopes of qualifying entries to compete at the national tournament this June in Las Vegas, NV.

Panthers bring home science wins from NKU

Four out of the six Cline students who competed in the NKU Science Fair found themselves in the winners' circle. Hannah Sizemore came in first place in Environmental Casey Armstrong came in 2nd place in Earth and Space Owen Workman came in 2nd place in Microbiology

Allison Wendling came in 3rd  in Animal Sciences.

They competed against approximately 300 other students in grades 4-12.

CCMS science student

heads to state competition

CCMS 6th grader Gretchen Walch won the regional science competition at NKU Saturday with her behavioral science study on which voice is the most soothing.  Her research centered around which voice was the most soothing and what you thought of each voice type. Gretchen will now represent CCMS at the state competition.

Paging all legislators

Students from Cline Elementary learned the legislative process with the help of some experts during their trip to Frankfort. The students visited the House of Representatives and the Senate. Twenty students served as pages during the trip.

 

 

Mammogram Van stopping at CCHS

The last scheduled visit from the St. Elizabeth Mobile Mammogram Unit will occur on Thursday, April 17, from 1- 4:30 pm at the Campbell County High School.  The Mammogram Van will be parked near the concession area entrance at the rear of the building. Scheduling is different this year than in the past.  Instead of contacting the nurse at the high school and scheduling, as was done previously, you will now call the St. Elizabeth Women’s Wellness Center at (859)815-1385 and schedule directly. If you have ANY questions about insurance coverage, please contact your health care provider. 

Cardinals bring home silver
Grant's Lick is proud to announce it's Academic Team took second place in Quick Recall, Future Problem Solving, and the overall at our Governor's Cup competition at Southern Elementary on March 1. Individual award winners were: Robby Fickenshire: 2nd place Social Studies and 4th place Math, Baylee Albers: 2nd place Science, Hanna Owen: 2nd place composition and 3rd place Arts and Humanities, Jamie Schneider: 5th place Language Arts, Kendall Ruber: 1st place Arts and Humanities, Kourtnie Ruber, 1st place Composition.

SBDM elections are upcoming

Nominations for CCHS parent representatives to the Site Based Decision Making Council  are due March 28 to the CCHS PTSA. The elections will be held April 10 at CCHS for four parent reps. Currently serving are Sandra Bryan,  Janine Caldwell, Mindy Parks and Brenda Sauerbeck. Anyone who will have a student at CCHS for the 2008-09 school year can run.

 

CRES wins district Governor's Cup competition

Congratulations to the CRES Academic Team for winning the district Governor's Cup competition on March 1. The team earned points for its first place finish in Quick Recall and Future Problem Solving as well as earning 16 individual medals in the written assessments. Way to go!

 

 

 

 

Reiley Academic Team takes second

Congratulations to the Reiley Elementary Academic Team which won several awards at the District Governor's Cup Competition on March 1.  The Future Problem Solving Team tied for 1st place, the Quick Recall Team won 2nd place, and team members won 8 individual medals across the categories of Mathematics, Social Studies, Language Arts, Composition, and Arts & Humanities.

 

 

Former track stars wanted

CCHS Track and Cross Country Alumni Track Meet and Social to be held April 19, 2008. CCHS Track will host it's first Over-The-Hill Classic, a small 7 event meet for all former track and cross country athletes. There will also be a social later that evening. Basketball updates

The Lady Camels are 37th District Champions! They defeated Bishop Brossart in the title game last Friday night at Campbell Co Middle School. Making the All District team were Kristin White, Alex Baker and receiving the District Tournament MVP award was Brianna Peters.

 

Getting into character

Top better understand the characters in Shakespeare's MacBeth, CCHS students in Allison Berkley's classes used make-up to help them visualize the deaths of their favorite characters. Students selected which character's death they wished to portray and other students applied the grim effects. Here Brittany Guy shows off her ghostly charms.

A time to play

Select Drama students from Mr. Bertucci's class visited all of the 5th grade students recently to help teach the elements of drama, and the production of a play, including work on- and off-stage. The CCHS students prepared a presentation based on "The Lion and the Mouse," a fable the elementary students read.  The drama team lead the elementary students through the rehearsal process of a play, talking about and demonstrating the steps necessary to produce a show.  They ended the presentation with some examples of improvisation, which allows students to practice tools of acting.  Some 5th grade volunteers even participated in the improvisation.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Students from CCHS celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by sharing a love of reading with elementary students. The high school students, all of whom are in the superintendent's advisory group, visited each elementary school in the district where they read Dr. Seuss books to the students.

Soccer signing

Congratulations to Leslie Carver who was signed to play soccer at Campbellsville University. Leslie signed her intent papers at CCHS last Friday with her CCHS coaches, her new Campbellsville coach and her proud parents in attendance. Way to go!

 

 

Coat collection draws praise

Congratulations to CCMS 6th grader Lilly Murray for her hard work in creating a coat drive at the middle school which collected cold-weather wear for the less fortunate. Lilly developed the idea and through her organization, the school collected many coats and other items. Lilly was thanked personally by the Salvation Army where she made the donation.

Congratulations to the CCMS 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team. They were crowned the 2008 NKMSBL Tournament Champions

Crossroads fifth-grader Mackenzie Franklin will receive the 3rd-5th grade school winner award in the conservation art contest, Kentucky's Wildlife, on March 11th. ARt Teacher Sarah Richardson will receive an award as well that evening.

Three cheers for cheerleaders!

Congratulations the competition cheerleading team at CCHS who recently placed 4th at state in KHSAA in the super large category. Way to go girls!

 

She loves GLE!

Congratulations to Madison Vickers, a GLE 4th grader who's quilt square entry was selected as the winner of the Grant’s Lick Elementary PTA sponsored school-wide “I Love GLE!” quilt square contest. Madison's quilt square represented The Open Arms 4th Grade Team of GLE. She showcases the positive learning climate at GLE. Enjoy the entire display located in the entrance hall to the GLE Café.

 

Camel Fair rescheduled for Feb. 28

Do you have an 8th grade student considering CCHS for high school? Feb. 28 is your chance to get a closer look at what CCHS has to offer. Camel Fair, an event for all 8th grade students and their parents to take a tour of the school and meeting with representatives from various departments, clubs and athletics, will be held in the auditorium starting at 7 p.m. A meeting on the Freshman Academy will begin at 7:30 p.m. Call 635-4161 for more information. Camel Fair was originally scheduled for Feb. 20 but was moved due to inclement weather.

Find out if you have what it takes to do voice-over work by enrolling in the You're on the Air... How to Really Make it in Voice-overs class on March 7. The class will be presented by Such a Voice, a full-service voice-over training and production company. cost is just $25 per person payable that evening. CCHS Junior takes art to state

CCHS Junior Ann Carey (pictured center)will represent CCS in the state's Reflections competition after her artwork placed first at the district level. CCHS had 18 students participate in the National PTA's Arts in Education Program. Six students - Ann Carey, Patrick Delaney, Chris Wheeler, Ashley Seibert, Mollie Stacey and Jibril Owen - won at the school level and were sent on to the district competition. Ann's piece will be judge in April.

All CCS schools awarded

All of the schools in the CCS district have been named as Fast ForWord Fast Track or Gold Caps schools. This award is only given to those using the Fast ForWord reading intervention program who:

  • Maintain average participation composite score of 70% or greater
  • Achieve average completion rates of 70% or better for students that start Fast ForWord products in the prior 60-90 days
  • Minimum number of students = 36 for site licenses or 3 students per workstation license.

This is a great distinction for CCS and those involved with implementing the program.

Champion chess players

The Cline Elementary Chess Team took home third place honors at the Walton-Verona Chess competition held Feb. 16. The team was led by Connor Smith who placed 11th in the competition.

CCMS Academic Team wins regional

Congratulations to the CCMS Academic Team for being named Regional Champions in the Governor's Cup Competition. The CCMS team finished the day with 48 points while its closest competitor had only 16! The following will compete at the state tournament in Louisville in March.

Congratulations to the CCHS wrestling team which finished 6th in the state wrestling tournament this past weekend at the Frankfort Civic Center. Seven CCHS wrestlers placed. They are:

More Freds named

We have a brand new trio of Freds. Our newest recipients of the award are Jim Lynch (pictured), a counselor at CCHS; Ryan Vanlandingham, a member of the facilities team; and Vicki Grow, a para-educator at Grant's Lick Elementary. Each received high praised from their nominators as well as other staff in their buildings. The FRED award is based on the book "The FRED Factor" by Mark Sanborn. The write stuff

Three CCHS students have been recognized as finalists in the Scholastic Writing Awards, Northern Kentucky division.  They are:

A love of writing

The Open Arms 4th Grade Team of Grant’s Lick Elementary celebrated their writing growth during the 2008 Valentine’s Day Writers’ Tea. The 38 student team members from Mr. Himebaugh’s and Mrs. Mariann Smith’s classes each set up a literacy display and shared-out with the wider community of family and friends.

Luck of the Irish  

CCHS junior Sarah Henson had her poem, “Dance of Erin” published in the February 2008 issue of Irish Dancing and Culture magazine, an international publication based in Ireland. Way to go Sarah!

Check mate

Nolan Padin, a third grade student at Reiley, placed third in the K-3rd grade division of the chess tournament at Walton-Verona Elementary. Congrats Nolan!

 

1st graders on a Mission

Students in Rhonda Baker's first-grade class at Reiley spurred all of teh students in the school to bring in pennies to donate to Main Street Mission. PNC bank is tallying the total which was more than these little ones have time to count!

 

 

1st make-up day

Campbell County Schools will be in session on Monday, Feb. 18. The day is being used as a make-up day for the first snow day which was missed in December.

 

Quick ride to class

Allison and Aimee Wendling won a ride to school on a firetruck at Cline Elementary's silent auction during its Winter Carnival. Allison West and Taylor Peterson are friends of the Wendling girls and were also able to enjoy the ride.

 

Divers make a splash

The CCHs swim and dive team brough home some hardware from the Region 4 swimming and diving meet held last weekend at Scott High School. The winners are:

A families within the CCS district are invited to a literacy event on Feb. 26 at Reiley Elementary School. Pizza and drinks will be served begriming at 6 p.m. The presentation "Supporting Reading Development" by springer School and Center Program Coordinator Elaine Schroeder will begin at 6:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided for elementary aged students. The program is being sponsored by the Southern Campbell County Family Resource Center. Call Linda at 448-4854 or fill out the attachment to register.

Author shares Tall Tales

Rick Sowash, an author of three locally published books, will share his craft with Crossroads Elementary families this Thursday night. The Literacy Night will also include pizza and snacks. Sowash will present his Tall Tales, sharing stories of attacking cucumber plants and kittens born wearing sweaters much to the delight of the students. His books are available online at www.sowash.com.

 

 

Heard through the Grapevine - wrestlers take 3rd

The CCMS wrestling team took home third place honors at the state wrestling meet. The team was led by the new State Champ in the 70 lb. division Sean Fausz. Garth Yenter placed third in the 82 lb. division; Willie Helton took third in the 140 lb. division and Mason Frank placed fifth in the 230 lb. division. The entire team earned the right to compete at the state competition based on their placing at the middle school regional competition where the team placed first overall.

Literacy grant awarded

Cinda Muenchen, staff developer at Cline elementary, was awarded a $10,000 Literacy grant  from the CCLD in collaboration with the Kentucky Dept. of Education. This $10,000 grant enables Cline staff to participate in professional conferences along with receiving resources and technology.  Cline students have benefited from numerous literacy assemblies and amazing speakers.

Learn nutrition with you child

We Can!, the 4 series program to enhance children’s activity and nutrition will be offered to elementary families at Cline and Crossroads Elementary. 
The program is scheduled to be held at Crossroads on Tuesdays; Feb. 19 and 26 and March 4 and 11, 6:30-9 PM.

Kindergarten students thru fifth graders will be bringing home registration forms so they and their parents can sign up to participate in the program about the challenges of eating well and being physically fit.  If child-care is needed please call Kriste Swanson at 442-3586.

The National Institute of Health developed this public education outreach program to help families stay at a healthy weight, increase physical activity, and reduce screen time. Campbell County School District nurses, social workers, family resource coordinator and the Campbell Co. Cooperative Extension Office are working together to bring this program to Cline and Crossroads families.  The program will be offered in the south part of the district at a later date.

Players sign with Morehead

Congratulations to Ryan Eten and Brian Sauerbeck, CCHS seniors, who both signed with Morehead State to play football.

Hard work adds up to state competition

After three paper and pencil testing rounds and a grueling head-to-head math competition, CCMS seventh grader Jared Wittrock came out on top of the Math Counts regional competition! Jared was ranked third out of over 50 mathletes. He has secured his spot at the state level MathCounts competition on March 7th in Louisville. Good Luck Jared!

Girls game rescheduled

Girls Basketball game on Feb. 2 vs Gallatin Co. has been cancelled, it is rescheduled for 7 pm on Feb. 8. The Girls Varsity team only will be playing at CCHS.

 

A top-notch speller

Congratulations to the CCMS 2008 Spelling Bee champion, Ravyn Tanner.  The seventh grader had a tough competition against 23 other great spellers.  The spelling bee went for an amazing 23 rounds, and at the end of the competition Ravyn and Griffen White kept everyone on the edge of their seats.  Ravyn is now off to the Scripps Howard Spelling Bee hosted by WCPO on March 1 at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati.  Good Luck Ravyn!

Speed Stacking

Tournament planned

The third annual Cross County Speed Stacking Competition has been rescheduled for Saturday May 10, 2008 from 9 am to 3 pm.  This event will be held at Campbell County Middle School. Schools from across Campbell County will participate in the event.

 

How egg-citing!

Third grade students in Mrs. Nadeau, Mrs. Wolery, and Ms. Albers classes at Grant's Lick Elementary learned about force and gravity through an egg drop experiment.  Students were given the research project to create a device that would protect an egg falling from 8 feet. The students were very creative. They used everything from gelatin, angel food cake, and packing peanuts to foam footballs, coffee grounds, and a cornstarch & water mixture. 

 

Getting a feel for the arts

Campbell Ridge students got a hands-on lesson in Appalachian arts last week when groups of local artists visited with samples of their wares. Quilters, weavers, dulcimer players, dancers, lumber jacks, and story tellers were among those that visited. Older and younger students were paired together as they visited stations and answered a question booklet. The day was an excellent celebration of experiential learning through the Arts and Humanities.

Congratulations to the Campbell County Middle School Academic Team who were named District Champions for the Governor's Cup competition. The well-rounded team had at least two medallists in all written assessment categories and an undefeated Quick Recall team. Daily dose of fiber

Campbell Ridge Elementary fifth-grade students were treated to a special art lesson from Fiber Artist Pat Sturtzel this week. Sturtzel taught the students about created their own designs to print on fabric. They were spend part of this week and next creating designs and dying fabric that will be used for pillows which they will sew.

 

H is for Haircuts

Kindergarten students at Grant's Lick Elementary were sporting fresh haircuts and hairdos early this week. For their lesson on the letter H, students were treated to haircuts or styling from Gail Haverbusch from Korner Kuts in Butler, Ky. The students also drew pictures of themselves with their new fancy styles.

 

 

Taking the Plunge

for Special Olympics

A group of teachers from Campbell County Central - Matt Record, Kailyn Campbell, Alvin Elsbernd, Jerry Stamper, and Kristin Kissinger - will take a dip into freezing waters on Feb. 2 for the Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Olympics. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the team can do so online.

 

Beta Club inducted at Cline

congratulations to the fifth-grade students who were inducted into Cline's Beta Club on Thursday evening. Members are: Kassie Fogarty, Joshua Reynolds, Max McHugh, Sergio DelCastillo, Mallory McGrath, Kayla Hayes, Emily Hartig, Jasmine Brooks, Katie Bishop and Alex Westlund. The club is sponsored by Patty Allen, far left. The school's newly formed club is a member of the National Beta Club which recognizes, academic achievement, promotes character,  develops leadership skills, encourages service involvement, and provides technological advantages to students in grades 5 - 12.

Can you finish the fight? Halo tourney planned

The Book and Media Club at Campbell County High School is hosting its 2nd HALO 3 tournament.  The tournament takes place over two days—this Friday, January 25th, and next Friday, February 1st—from 2:30 until 5:00 in the media center.  We are expecting more than 70 students who have formed four person teams and will battle each other in SWAT and SLAYER mode to determine the champions.  The Book and Media Club sponsored its first HALO 3 tournament in October and also sponsored a Guitar Hero tournament after Thanksgiving. 

Oh the drama!
The CCHS Drama Club will present The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde on Feb.. 1 - 3, 2008. Shows will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday in the CCHS Auditorium. Tickets are $6. For reservations, call 635-4161 ext. 1146.

Congratulations to the Campbell County Middle School Wrestling Team which took home first place honors at the Middle School Regional Competition. Academically speaking

Congratulations to the CCHS Academic Team for finishing second in the Fleming County Academic Tournament last weekend. The tournament featured the best teams from across the state. The CCHS team is led by Donn Manker.

Time to register new students

Registration materials for new students are now available online. Parents wishing to enroll any student new to Campbell County Schools to view the site for important information and downloadable forms.  Registration dates for kindergarten students will be March 3-7. Cline adds Beta club

Cline Elementary has introduced a Beta Club for students. The National Beta Club recognizes, academic achievement, promotes character,  develops leadership skills, encourages service involvement, and provides technological advantages to students in grades 5 - 12.

 

These Freds are real givers

Congratulations to the newest Freds serving at CCS. Denise Dee, a secretary at Campbell County Day Treatment; Pam Griffith, a secretary in the instruction department; and Connie McQueary, a clerk in Central Office, were all honored for taking their jobs to a new level. Their willingness to do more than required sets them apart of others. The FRED award is based on the book "The FRED Factor" by Mark Sanborn. Secretary for a day

Kindergartener Emily Clark served as secretary for the day at Cline Elementary. Emily won the prestigious position through the silent auction held at the school's winter carnival. During the day, she sent a memo, copied a letter to go home with students and released students when their buses arrived in the afternoon.

 

License to spell

Congratulations to the winners of the district-wide spelling bee held on Jan. 10 at the Alexandria Education Center. Wesley Allen from Cline took home top honors. Rebekah Combs from CRES came in second with Jacob Mackie from Cline taking third and Kourtnie Ruber from Grant's Lick coming in fourth. It was the word 'license' that finally stumped the students. All of the participants should be very proud of their accomplishment.

Reflecting on education

Forty-two Reiley students participated in Reflections, the National PTA's arts in education program.  All participating students received a certificate, a ribbon, and a 130 piece art kit.  Students entered projects in Literature, Photography, Video/Film, Music, and Visual Arts.  Eleven students went to District competition.  Five of the eleven students received District awards.  Marcy Livers, a first grader, is going to State competition for her Visual Art entry.

EXPLORE high school

CCMS will hold its 8th grade EXPLORE parent night on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m.. in the cafeteria. The main topic will be the EXPLORE test and how it relates to high school and college planning. CCMS staff will also be available to give parents of 8th grade students information about high school transition for the 2008/2009 school year.

Under their spell

congratulations to all of the finalists in the Reiley Elementary school-wide spelling bee. Fifth grader Josh Carroll finished first, with Bo Bates, 5th grade, and Drake Boling, 5th grade, taking 2nd and 3rd place honors. Ryan Barth, a 4th grader, placed 4th and is the school's alternate in the district-wide spelling bee taking place Jan. 10.

 

Singing up a storm

Members of the Campbell Ridge Elementary chorus sang the National Anthem for Cincinnati Cyclones fans at the January 4 game. According to Choir Director Juanita Cooper and others in attendance the group put on a spectacular show.

W-I-N-N-E-R-S

Congratulations to Kendall Ruber, Kourtnie Ruber and Robby Fickenscher for placing first, second and third, respectively, in the Grant's Lick school-wide spelling bee on Jan. 4. The winners were among 20 fourth and fifth grade students to compete.

 

 

More Freds!

Both received their award from Superintendent Strong after being nominated by a parent who felt the pair went above and beyond by helping her son. Reiley performs

Fourth grade students at Reiley Elementary performed the Nutcracker for the PTA, students, and staff of Reiley Elementary. This is the 15th year that Ms. Jones has directed the Nutcracker with grades ranging from 1st to 4th grade.  Thanks to the help and support of parents, family, and friends the Nutcracker continues to be a huge success.

Two selected for All-State Choir

CCHS sophomore Kaitlyn Carr  and senior Dillon Smallwood were selected as members of this year's All-State Choir.  They will travel to Louisville with Choir Director Bob Myers in early February for the three day event which is held in conjunction with the Kentucky Music Educators Association State Convention.

Matter of principal

First-grader Parker Culp served as principal for the day at Cline Elementary, relieving Lynn Poe of a few duties including pulling the fire alarm for a school-wide drill. Parker earned the honor of being the school's leader at the winter carnival where he and his parents were the highest bidders in a silent auction for the role. The position of school secretary was also auctioned.

 

 

Wrestling team wins

Congratulations to the CCHS wrestling team for winning the the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference on Saturday. In the final match the Camels upset #1 rated Ryle 49-21. Twelve CCHS wrestlers placed in their weight class as follows:

6th grade champs

Congratulations to the CCMS 6th Grade Academic Team who, following in the footsteps of the 2006 team, are the 6th Grade Showcase Champions! The team competed against students from five other counties.  Five students collected medals at the end of the day. The Quick Recall Team was the only team to remain undefeated in the double elimination tournament. Way to go!

 

Mark your calendar for a quarter auction

CCHS will host a quarter auction on Tuesday, Jan. 8, starting at 6:30 p.m. Members of the community are welcome to come enjoy the fun. Be sure to bring plenty of quarters though for chances to win over $1000 in products from the following companies: Longaberger, Taste of Gourmet, Noah's Ark Animal Workshop, Premier Jewelry, Tastefully Simple, Home Interior, Wyld Hare, Discovery Toys, Pampered Chef, Stamped Up, Jackie's Embroidery, Tupperware, Creative Memories, Bead Beadery, Hillcreek Candle and Gifts and Avon. All benefits will go toward the CCHS trip to Washington DC.

River Valley residents visited by Cardinals

the first and second grade students at Grant's Lick Elementary spent a portion of Dec. 12 visiting with residents of the River Valley Retirement Home. the students sang Christmas carols and handed out Christmas cards they had made. Both he students and the residents enjoyed the day of celebration. Here Austin makes a new friend at the home.

5th graders get PC lesson

Fifth-grade students at Crossroads Elementary were treated to a special computer lesson thanks to Library Media Specialist Carol Jo Taylor. Matt Davidson, infrastructure manager with FRCH in Cincinnati, spoke to the students about the history and role of computers and even let them disassemble a PC much to their enjoyment. At the conclusion of the program, Mr. Davidson gave away a notebook computer , a personal computer, Microsoft Office Suite 2007 software, Microsoft Vista software, several USB drives, and a computer mouse. The winner of the notebook/laptop is Kendall Bricking. Thomas Willcutt won the home computer.
