All Campbell County Schools are closed from Monday, June 22 through Friday, July 3. They will re-open on Monday, July 6. Should you have questions regarding registration, please call us on or after July 6.

Lazer Tag to benefit youth football

You can play unlimited lazer tag for $15 at Skallywag Tag on Beechmont Ave. on July 19, 6-8 p.m., with all proceeds benefitting the Campbell County Youth Football League. Tickets must be purchased before hand by calling Bunny Clos at 859-743-6354.  Tickets will not be sold at the door. 

FFA members attend camp

The Campbell County FFA Chapter attended FFA Camp June 22nd-26th, 2009. During the week at camp, students learned leadership skills, set chapter goals, participated in many sporting events, and made new friends. Members in attendance were: Jodi Heilman, Molly Slucher, Jordin Kinser, Abbey Sebastian, Allie Brossart, Hannah Flairty, Sarah Dishman, Jonathan Nelson, and FFA Advisors Erin Jury and Clay Sullivan.

CCMS Academic Team took 2nd at Nationals

The Campbell County Middle School Academic Team took the Runner-Up trophy in the Junior High National Academic Championship in Washington, DC.  Our team of Clayton Truman, Jenna Garofolo, Jared Wittrock, Andrew Perrin, and Trevor Holzschuh finished with an 8-1 record after 3 days of quick recall competition. The contest was with 37 of the top teams from around the country (and Guam). Congratulations to them all.

STLP students earn top awards

Congratulations to the CCMS STLP students for another successful year at state! The following students were chosen for recognition in the following technical categories:

  • Clinton Ellis—Technical Writing 2nd Place
  • Andrea Bachman and Ally Garcia—Interactive Content--Computer Programming----Honorable Mention
  • Ally Baker and Aubrey Franzen—Digital Music--Honorable Mention
  • Michaela Hyden and Aubrey Franzen—Computer Science Programming---Special Recognition
  • Paige Durst—Name Tag Design
  • Clinton Ellis—Microsoft Gaming 6th place
  • Our STLP also received a GOLD chapter award for meeting all 6 STLP goals.
  • In addition, out of the 93 participating school districts in the state, CCMS STLP was one of 11 recipients of the STLP Outstanding Projects Award. 

New childcare option this fall

The Board of Education has selected a new organization to offer child care for CCS students. Children's Collaborative, a collaborative agency consisting of Kinder Academy and Basic Trust, will offer before and after-school care, extended care for preschool students and care of children at the teen center. The group will start Aug. 10. For more information, contact Children's Collaborative at 653-2520 or www.childrenscollaborative.com.

The CCHS Spring Sports Banquet will be held June 4 at 7 p.m. in the school gym. All spring sport athletes and their families are asked to attend.

Cline students

conserves her energy

Syd Fillhardt, a Cline third grade student, earned a scholarship to the Newport Aquarium's summer camp. The scholarship is a prize in the Aquarium and WAVE Foundations essay contest. Syd wrote about conserving energy. During camp, she will learn all about water.

Boys golf tryouts scheduled

Campbell County High School will hold tryouts for the boys golf team on July 20 & 22 and 22 at 1 p.m. at A.J. Jolly Golf Course.

Cheer tryouts scheduled

Campbell County High School will hold cheerleading tryouts. A cheer will be taught in the open gym May 28 and 29 starting at 2:30 p.m. for all those trying out for JV and Varsity. Tryouts will be held June 1 at 2:30 p.m. A mandatory practice will be held for incoming freshman on June 3 12 - 1:30 p.m. Freshman tryouts will be held June 5 12 - 2 p.m.

State runners

Congratulations to the girls and boys track and field teams for their successful performances at the KHSAA State AAA Track and Field meet over the weekend. The girls team brought home a State Runner-Up team trophy along with 3 individual state champion titles and 1 state runner-up title.  The boys finished in 13th place overall. The boys also brought home an individual state title.
