Welcome Back Roadrunners!
We are excited for a great school year. First things first, we have a fabulous new addition to Reiley this year-Mrs. Johnson, School Counselor. We are excited to have us join our team as a part-time school counselor that we will share with Campbell Ridge Elementary. Mrs. Sebastian and Mrs. Johnson will both be working with all students this school year and are excited to help every student be the best student they can. Please feel free to reach out to either counselor at anytime, but also keep in mind that Mrs. Johnson is only at Reiley a few days each week.
This is Mrs. Sebastian’s 5th year at Reiley. Prior to that she was at CCMS and CCHS as a counselor for a couple of years. She has three awesome kiddos-one that is a 1st grade student at Reiley this year. For fun, she loves to spend time with her family and read as many good books as she can!
This is Mrs. Johnson’s 3rd year as a school counselor. The past couple of school years, she was a counselor at Williamstown Elementary School. She is married to her husband Jake and has a fur baby named Cash. In her spare time, she likes to travel, go hiking, read a good book, and watch movies.
Requesting to See the School Counselor
As we begin this school year, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Sebastian are available to all students and parents. We have student referral slips in the classrooms for students to request to see the counselor and at times teachers reach out when they feel it could benefit a student. As a parent, please feel free to reach out to us if you feel your child could benefit from speaking with one of the counselors individually or in a group counseling setting by filling out the referral form at the link below.

School Counseling Curriculum
The School Counselors and teachers are working together to implement an evidence-based school counseling curriculum called Second Step. Your student will be receiving lessons on key skills to help them to be successful both in and out of the classroom. These areas include: Empathy, Emotion Management and Problem Solving along with additional Skills for Learning for younger students and a multi-lesson Bully Prevention curriculum from Second Step as well. Look for our monthly newsletter in the Roadrunner Report to learn more about what your student is learning in this great curriculum or visit our webpage for more information as well.
Second Step Overview
Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Sebastian have been reviewing the key skills that are being taught in the classroom with all students as well as lessons to help students learn appropriate techniques for managing emotions, having a safe and respectful school climate by showing empathy, building friendships and understanding bullying. Please click on the link below for more information regarding the Second Step curriculum.
Throughout the year we students will be receiving an evidence-based curriculum called Second Step. The K–5 program has lessons to teach students about empathy, emotion-management, and the problem-solving skills they need to succeed.
