Principal's Message

Adam Ritter
CCHS_Principal

Hello Camels:

Welcome Back! My name is Adam Ritter, Principal at Campbell County High School.   We are very excited to start the 2018 / 2019 school year and are looking forward to working with all students to prepare them for their future pursuits.

Campbell County High School has received many recognitions recently including being named by the Washington Post as one of the Most Challenging High Schools in the Nation along with being recognized as One of the Best Public High Schools by U.S. News and World Report.   All of these accolades come as a result of our teachers’ hard work in providing rigorous and challenging courses along with students challenging themselves to prepare for their future endeavors.

During the 2018 / 2019 school year CCHS students will again be taking the CERT test which is an ACT-like test that will give students predictive information for the ACT along with feedback and instructions on how to improve. This year we will also be administering the MAP assessment at the 9th and 10th grades.  Campbell County students are very accustomed to taking this assessment and we feel that this will give us beneficial information to ensure that we are meeting all student’s individual needs.

Last year was the first year of our one to one initiative where every CCHS student receives a laptop computer for use both at school and at home.  This was a huge success with students and teachers using this to enhance student learning in all content areas.  We will pass these laptops out early in the school year after we have had our class meetings. More information will be sent home regarding expectations for usage and care for devices in the first few days of school.   Along with the use of our laptops we will continue to utilize Schoology in the classroom.  The use of this platform has grown tremendously since the introduction of our one to one initiative and the use of this platform is preparing students for their future endeavors.

Our administrative team welcomes Mr. Tim Mosley as our new Assistant Principal.  We are very excited to have him as part of our team and know he will have a huge impact on our school in his new role.  Mr. Mosley is coming from Grant County High School, where he was the Director of the Alternative Program and an Assistant Principal.  Prior to Grant County, he served as the Athletic Director at Newport High School, where he was also a social studies teacher and Head Wrestling Coach.  Mr. Mosley is a graduate of Campbell County High School and is very excited to return home and be a part of this distinguished school.

Tuesday August 7th CCHS will hold Open House from 4:30-6:30.  This is a time to meet the teachers, see the building, and learn classroom expectations.  Season athletic passes will be on sale during this time.

Wednesday August 8th we will host incoming freshman orientation from 8:00am-11:00am.  This is a great time for incoming students to become acclimated with the building, meet their teachers and understand the expectations of being a CCHS student.  Students can be dropped off at the gymnasium entrance.

Wednesday August 15th is students first day of school.  Please remember that school starts at 7:25 am.  Parent drop off is at the front entrance located on Camel Crossing.  Student schedules are available in Infinite Campus at this time.

At CCHS we are very committed to the success of all of our students and are here to help in any way that we can.
